Kestrel 1000 - Handheld anemometer

The Kestrel 1000 handheld anemometer was developed in 1995 when Nielsen Kellerman co-founder Richard Kellerman needed a reliable anemometer for glider flying. A proven, accurate tool that has been proven for more than 15 years, only the design of which has changed in recent years. Rugged and durable: waterproof, floats on water and shockproof.  

The Kestrel 1000 anemometer can be easily switched between mph, km/h, ft/min, m/s, knots and Beaufort measurements.  

It measures:

• Maximum gust  
• Average wind speed
